Wood Sash Windows

Why our Sash is better

Made with Alaskan Yellow Cedar which is highly resistant to decay. Logs that are known to have lain in the forest for decades have been found to be sound. Immersion in salt water does not harm the wood. This wood can be used for boat decking and railings. This is a dense soft wood that closely resembles the color of pine so you can stain it to match your existing pine sashes. This tree grows in the mountains of Western Washington and Oregon there is no wonder why it holds up so well to the Northwest weather. So no more rotting problems or constant worry about having enough paint on your windows this wood is perfect for window parts in rainy environments.

Why use Exterior Stops

Exterior Stops on the sash mean no more expensive paint jobs or having to replace your sash if the glass is broken or failed simply remove the wood stops from the outside of the sash remove the glass and replace with a good glass unit and re install the stops on the sash and touch up the exterior only no need to repaint or re-spray the expensive interior paint job.

Why we use the best Primer

We prime all the exteriors with a high quality hard coat primer because we know people do not always have the time to paint right after your sash is installed with ours you don’t have to. Remember it is resistant to decay and can hold up in the Northwest weather just fine. Unlike the pine sash, which requires you to paint within 30 days or the one-year warranty is voided. One year!

Since 1982, professionals and do-it-yourselfers have relied on Bulls Eye 1-2-3® Primer-Sealer to quickly and effectively prime and seal a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces – new drywall, wood, masonry, metal, glossy surfaces – and more. Offering great adhesion without sanding, Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is a “bond coat” primer that’s great for hard-to-stick surfaces like old glossy paints and clear finishes, metal, fiberglass, PVC, composites –even glass & tile.

Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is mold & mildew-resistant, so it’s great for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and laundry rooms. It offers effective resistance to the formation of mold & mildew on the underside and surface of the primer film, prolonging the life of your paint job. It has a well-earned reputation as a great stain blocker, permanently and completely sealing stains from crayons, graffiti, greasy spots, tannin – even light water stains. Formulated with high performance proprietary resins, it is the “go to” primer for binding chalky surfaces like aluminum or previously painted siding – and for priming possibly high pH surfaces like con-crete, stucco, plaster and fast setting joint & texture compounds.

Bulls Eye 1-2-3 also inhibits rust formation when applied over clean ferrous metal such as iron and steel, eliminating the need for a separate, rust inhibitive primer. And, unlike other water-base primers, it dries to a smooth, tight film and resists flash rusting. Bulls Eye 1-2-3 inhibits long-term rust from developing under the primer film when dry, making it ideal for priming interior and exterior metalwork such as iron railings, steel doors and metal panels.

With superior sealing qualities and great hold out, Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is also an outstanding base coat for any decorative painting or faux finish project — ragging, frottage, marbling, wood graining — even under metallic finishes. Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is ready to recoat in just 1 hour and can be tinted toward the color of your topcoat to eliminate the need for one coat of paint—saving both time and money.

Big Stretch Caulk

All Homes Move. . .

The window frame moves away from the siding or the door shifts against the brick. They move when the temperature changes, the wind blows, the ground swells or the earth quakes. Sometimes they move a little and sometimes they move a lot. Most caulks can’t take it. They dry hard and crack out. That’s why you should use Big Stretch. It works where other caulks have failed. It has powerful adhesion but stays elastic and rubbery. Big Stretch will twist, bend, stretch or compress to absorb just about any movement a home can dish out.

About Big Stretch

Big Stretch is a water-cleanup caulk that can span gaps up to 2” wide and stretch and compress with joint movement. Big Stretch skins quickly for better rain resistance and to prevent dirt pickup. And it can be painted over with latex and oilbased paints and stains. It spans wide gaps, is super elastic, and has high resistance to UV and ozone attack. Big Stretch has a lifetime warranty* and is freeze-thaw stable. So you don’t have to worry if you leave it in the cold overnight. It will still be good when it thaws out!

The final product!!!

The glass is installed in the sash using a high quality Sonolastic Caulk. We caulk theglass to the sash and we caulk the stops to the glass for a watertight seal and this caulk will not fail in a year or two the caulking used is just as important as the wood and the glass. We then clean the excess caulking from the glass so you have a clean looking sash and our caulking wont grow out of the window as time goes on it stays where we put it. These sashes are expensive the parts that are used in the sash should be too!

We also block the sash from falling out of square and being our caulking doesn’t melt in the heat, if it leaves our shop square it will be square when you use it in your house in the summer or winter.
